Monroe Memorial Day Parade Set For May 25 With Road Closures

MONROE, CT — The town of Monroe will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, May 25, beginning at 1 p.m., with a route stretching north along Monroe Turnpike (Route 111) and concluding at the Town Green.

Participants will assemble on Elm Street south of Route 111 prior to the start. Following the parade, a Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place on the Town Green in honor of those who died in military service.

To accommodate the event, Monroe Turnpike will be closed to all traffic between Elm Street and the Town Green starting at 12:30 p.m. All side streets and shopping plaza entrances along the parade route will also be blocked.

Residents are advised to plan ahead to avoid traffic disruptions and are encouraged to attend the community ceremony to honor fallen service members.
