Monroe Names New Superintendent: Report

The school district looked inward to select its newest head of schools.

MONROE, CT — The Board of Education has chosen a new superintendent, elevating assistant superintendent Dr. Jack Zamary as the new head of schools from his, reports the Monroe Courier. Zamary took over the reigns after interim superintendent John Battista announced his retirement on July 1, 2018.

Zamary will take over after Battista's retirement. Chairwoman Donna Lane said the committee turned to Zamary before spending significant resources on a candidate outside the district.

Zamary earned his doctorate from Southern Connecticut State University and his bachelors of science in music education and master's in music from UConn.
