Monroe volunteers tackled a Turkey Roost Road house fire and two Route 111 crashes Friday during a busy day of calls.
MONROE, CT — Monroe’s volunteer firefighters faced a string of calls Friday, including a mutual aid response, a house fire and two vehicle crashes, officials said.
Crews were first dispatched around 2:45 a.m. to Milford on a rare mutual aid tanker request, the fire department said. A few hours later, between 7 and 9 a.m., firefighters battled a house fire on Turkey Roost Road within the district. Crews remained on scene for about two hours afterward to clean hoses and equipment.
Later in the afternoon, volunteers responded to a two-car crash at Route 111 and Purdy Hill Road, followed by another collision in the evening at Route 111 and Elm Street.
