Monroe Wedding Hall Evacuated After Flooding Causes Sinkhole

The sinkhole at the Waterview in Monroe was just a fraction of the mayhem experienced by towns in southwestern Connecticut on Sunday.

MONROE, CT — Emergency crews evacuated guests at the Waterview banquet hall in Monroe Sunday when torrents of rushing water formed caused roads to collapse and created an enormous sinkhole, the Connecticut Post reported.

The rising waters eroded the land behind the building, and fire officials called the area a "disaster zone," according to CT Insider.

No injuries were reported, and Route 34 between Route 111 and Coppermine Road remained closed Monday.
