Obituary: James P. Fogarty, 86, Longtime Monroe Resident

Deepest condolences to James' family and friends.

James Patrick Fogarty, a gentleman and a scholar passed away on August 24, 2017. Jim was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 28, 1930 to the late James J. and Gertrude McGrady Fogarty. Jim was a longtime resident of Monroe, CT and was an active communicant of Saint Stephen Parish in Trumbull.

Jim was a graduate of the Fairfield Prep and was a member of the first graduating class of Fairfield University, two communities that he maintained strong ties with throughout his life. After College Jim proudly served his country in the United States Airforce. He then worked for many area companies, retiring from Pitney Bowes as a Project Manager for many years.

Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus & Ancient Order of Hibernians After retirement Jim was active with the Monroe Senior Center, The Coalition Abuse Protection of the Elderly (CAPE), Triad and a number of other groups.

Jim is survived by his sister Kathryn Fogarty Trainor of Cincinnati, OH, nephews, James Christopher Trainor (Joanne) of Binghamton, New York; Joseph Trainor (Methanie) of Fairbanks Alaska, Dr. Thomas Trainor (Sarah) of Alaska ;and niece Dr. Anne Trainor (partner: Zack)of Cincinnati, OH and two Great Nephews Kavik and Jack and numerous cousins. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 1, 2017 at 10 AM at St Stephen Church; 6948 Main St, Trumbull, CT.

Burial with Military Honors will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Family and friends may visit on Thursday evening from 4-8PM at the Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Tpke. Monroe CT 06468.
