Why are you seeking this office?
I have a passion for education. I believe the school system in Monroe is one of our community’s greatest assets. With leadership and vision it can continue to be held in high regard.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is the increasing population in our community which is affecting all of Monroe, but in particular our schools. I intend to listen to parents, as well as community members who do not have children in the schools. Then, along with administrators and other local officials be a part of creating a fiscally responsible plan to address the overcrowding issues in a timely manner.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
First of all, I am an unaffiliated candidate which means I will be voting on issues rather than voting for a political stance. I also bring many experiences to the table: I’ve been a resident of Monroe almost my entire life; our two children graduated from Masuk; I taught in Monroe for thirty-six years; I was the president of the Monroe Education Association, and chairman of the negotiations committee. In addition I am still substitute teaching in surrounding towns which allows me to stay involved in education.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I want the public to feel they have a choice and a voice with the board of education. My being on the ballot has given them a choice and I would be honored to be their voice.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
As an educator, as a teacher advocate, and as a union leader, I have worked closely with Superintendent Kobza and the Board of Education. Even if we have disagreed on an issue, we always found a way to work together to do what is in the best interest for the students of Monroe.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Listen. Listen to really hear each other. If we listen, our stories may connect us and help us find common ground.
