Reminder: Monroe Roads Closed as Work Continues on Stevenson Dam
Monroe, Newtown, Oxford, Shelton area drivers are asked to follow detours, as well as the direction of uniformed police officers in the area
Monroe, CT — The Town of Monroe announced that maintenance work on the Stevenson Dam will continue and will close the road and detour traffic on Route 34 near Roosevelt Drive in Oxford and Monroe.
Traffic will be detoured using CT Route 111, CT Route 110, and Bridge Street in the City of Shelton. Long-distance traffic is advised to take CT 8 and I-84 to avoid the Stevenson Dam, according to First Selectman Steve Vavrek.
The road will be closed on 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 until11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 by 11 p.m.
The detour will reroute drivers south on Route 111 to Route 110 heading towards Shelton. From there motorists should cross the Derby Bridge to get back on to Route 34.
