Sand Truck Overturns In Monroe

Fluids and sand spilled onto the roadway, fire officials said.

MONROE, CT — A privately-owned sand truck flipped onto its side early Sunday morning.

Fire department volunteers responded to the scene around 2:15 a.m. on Monroe Turnpike, just south of Purdy Hill Road, fire officials reported.

The sand truck occupants got out of the vehicle on their own, and Monroe emergency medical services personnel provided treatment to them, according to fire officials.

The road was temporarily closed while crews cleaned up spilled fluids and sand from the roadway.
