The Board of Education approved a settlement, which reinstates the football coach at Masuk High School.

MONROE, CT — A settlement between the Board of Education and Steve Christy has led to the Masuk High School football coach to return to the sidelines in 2024, Hearst Connecticut reported.

Christy, who has been on leave for six months amid an investigation into the football program, said he plans to coach his last season in 2024, Hearst CT reported. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed as it has not officially been signed by all parties.

At the Thursday meeting, numerous members of the football program were present and greeted the news with celebration.

The Monroe Sun reported that the vote to approve the settlement was unanimous and two school board members abstained. Christy indicated he plans to bring back his assistance coaches, the Monroe Sun reported.
