Smyrna Mayor Honors Teachers, Students and Volunteers at Award Ceremony
Mayor Max Bacon will present the Mayor's Education Award to award winners Monday, Dec. 5 at Smyrna City Hall.

From the City of Smyrna: Twice each year, Mayor Bacon and members of Smyrna City Council recognize an outstanding student, volunteer and staff member from each of the Smyrna area schools. Mayor Max Bacon will present the Mayor’s Education Award to award winners Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at Smyrna City Hall from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The awards ceremony, as with all scheduled council meetings, will be carried live on Charter Cable Channel 181 and stream live at https://smyrnacity.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx.
Awards will be presented in the categories of student, staff and volunteer. Recipients are recognized for their academic achievement, dedication and volunteer service.
A strong advocate for education, Mayor Bacon created this award recognizing educational excellence in 2006 to acknowledge the exceptional academic achievement of Smyrna school students and outstanding staff and volunteers for their contributions.

I am excited about recognizing our students for their academic accomplishments,” Bacon said. “Not only is it the students, but the parents, volunteers and teachers who provide constant support for our schools that make a difference.”
Principals from each school select the names of the award recipients—student, staff member and volunteer—and offer a brief description of the accomplishments, activities and/or service of each recipient during the awards presentation.
