Car Shot At, Crashes Into Guardrail Near Naugatuck Pond: Police

Police said one passenger "reported a minor injury consistent with a gunshot."

NAUGATUCK, CT — Police are investigating after a car was shot at near Baummer Pond in Naugatuck late Tuesday night, according to police.

In a news release, police said officers were called to the intersection of North Church Street and Mill Street around 11:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a car crashing into a guardrail in the area.

Officers spoke with the passengers of the car, who reported their vehicle had been shot at in the area of Mill Street and Baummer Pond, police said.

The passengers reported minor injuries from the crash, and one passenger reported a minor injury consistent with a gunshot, according to police.

Some of the passengers were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators later found evidence of gunfire on Mill Street in the area of Baummer Pond, according to police.

Mill Street remained closed Wednesday morning as detectives continued to investigate the incident, police said.
