Dog With Distended Stomach, Chronic Wounds Found Near Naugatuck Store: Animal Control
Animal control is seeking information after a dog with a distended stomach and other medical concerns was found near a store in Naugatuck.
NAUGATUCK, CT β Animal control is seeking information after a dog with a distended stomach and other medical concerns was found Thursday afternoon near a store in Naugatuck, according to the department.
In a Facebook post, animal control officials said a resident brought the male dog to Naugatuck Animal Control after they found the animal walking down New Haven Road by a Walmart store.
According to animal control, the dog currently has "a body score of 1 out of 5, distended stomach from being deprived food or water [and] several chronic wounds due to being crated or confined in a small space for an extended period of time," as well as other medical concerns due to neglect.

"Our biggest fear is always that there may be more like him that need our help! Please stand up for what's right," the post reads.

The department also noted the dog, now named Bernard, will be receiving a slow rehab and is not available at this time, however residents can donate wet and dry Purina One Sensitive Stomach puppy food or an orthopedic dog bed if they would like.
