Dog Found Dead At Cemetery, Investigation Launched: Naugatuck Police
A reward is being offered in connection with the death of a dog that was found at a cemetery in Naugatuck, according to police.
NAUGATUCK, CT β Police are investigating after a dead dog was found in a cemetery in Naugatuck on Friday morning.
The Naugatuck Animal Control was notified around 9:45 a.m. Sept. 27 by the caretaker of Hillside Cemetery on High Street that an βextremely malnourished and emaciatedβ gray and white Staffordshire Terrier was found within the cemetery grounds, according to police.
Police said the dog was estimated to be between 6 and 8 months old due to its size, or βeven 2 to 6 years old due to the teeth, but we cannot correctly confirm an accurate age due to the severity of the dog's health conditions.β

βThe dog appears to have passed away overnight to early morning,β police wrote in a news release. βNaugatuck Animal Control and Naugatuck Police Detectives arrived and, based on the dog's extremely poor condition and overall circumstances, treated this as a crime sceneβwhich has been cleared at this time.β

Police said Desmondβs Army is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of those responsible. The reward will expire in 90 days, according to police.
