Fake Coyote On Baseball Field Mistaken For Abandoned, Injured Dog: Naugatuck Animal Control

Naugatuck Animal Control has received a number of calls reporting an abandoned or injured dog on the field, however it is not real.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Naugatuck Animal Control has received a number of calls over the past few weeks reporting an abandoned or injured dog on the Peter J. Foley Little League field, however residents do not need to be alarmed, according to the department.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, animal control emphasized the canine in question is not a real dog, and in reality is a fake coyote meant to keep birds off of the field.

Animal control also noted the coyote was knocked down by the wind on Tuesday, which led to reports of "a possible deceased dog" on the field.

The department thanked Naugatuck residents for their support and for their "see something, say something" mentality.

"But rest assured," animal control wrote on Facebook, "the coyote on Peter J. Foley is fake and doing his job to keep the field free of birds! But [Tuesday], due to the wind, he's taking a break."
