Man Sought In Waterbury Dog Beating Case: Police

The dog suffered multiple injuries and required veterinary care, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — Police are searching for a city man suspected of beating a dog and lifting the animal by its collar.

Police said Tuesday they have an active arrest warrant for Javier Mandujano-Aguilar, 39, of Waterbury, for cruelty to animals.

On Oct. 21, police were made aware of a video showing a man striking a black and white dog, according to police.

“During the incident, Javier was observed punching the dog in the nose with a closed fist and lifting the dog by its collar, causing visible distress,” police said, in an announcement.

A veterinarian has since treated the dog, who suffered nose injuries, bloodshot eyes, and paw abrasions, police said.

Investigators are asking the public for assistance in finding Mandujano-Aguilar.
