Marijuana, Loaded Handgun Found During Search Of Naugatuck Man's Rented Car: Seymour PD

Police said they found marijuana, a loaded handgun and other items during a search of a vehicle rented to a 19-year-old Naugatuck man.

SEYMOUR, CT — Marijuana, a loaded handgun and other items were found during a search of a vehicle rented to a 19-year-old Naugatuck man late Wednesday night in Seymour, according to police.

In a news release, Seymour police said officers were trying to find a wanted person just before 11:30 p.m. in the area of Colony Road.

After further investigation, officers found the wanted person in the company of Keith Donnell Alexander, 19, of Naugatuck, according to police.

When officers searched a vehicle rented to Alexander, they found marijuana, MDMA pills, a digital scale and a Glock handgun equipped with an extended magazine, police said.

According to police, the firearm was loaded and the magazine was found to be full.

Alexander was arrested as a result of the investigation, police said.

He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, carrying a dangerous weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, violation of a protective order, illegal sale of cannabis greater than 18 grams and possession of a controlled substance (first offense).

Alexander was held on a $150,000 bond and arraigned in court Thursday, according to police.
