NAUGATUCK, CT — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash Saturday night on Andrew Mountain Road, according to police.

In a news release, police said a motorcycle crash was reported around 6:15 p.m. near Yorktown Road.

When officers arrived in the area, they found a motorcycle had gone off the road, causing serious injuries to the rider, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital and later transferred for further treatment, according to police.

The Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team is investigating the crash.

According to police, preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Andrew Mountain Road and failed to negotiate a sharp right-hand curve before leaving the roadway.
