NAUGATUCK, CT — One Naugatuck couple is $100,000 richer after purchasing a winning lottery ticket at an area business, according to the Connecticut Lottery.

According to a news release provided by the CT Lottery, the couple received a big surprise after discovering the computer-generated quick pick Powerball ticket they purchased was worth $100,000.

The couple said they enjoy playing Powerball and love the thrill when the jackpot approaches record-breaking levels, according to the CT Lottery.

"It's a great gift for the holidays," the Naugatuck winners said in a news release.

The couple said they planned to save the money and buy some extra-special holiday gifts this year, according to the CT Lottery.

The $100,000 winning "Powerball" ticket was drawn Tuesday. It was sold at House Of Wine & More in Stratford, according to the CT Lottery.

The CT Lottery furnishes winner information as public record.

The CT Lottery has changed its policy on announcing winners by not including the winners' full names on the list in order to protect them from potential scams, according to officials.

As of Oct. 1, 2025, the CT Lottery will no longer publish winners' names without their written consent, according to officials.
