NAUGATUCK, CT β The borough of Naugatuck will begin its annual spring street sweeping program this month, which will move through various neighborhoods.
According to a notice posted to Facebook by Naugatuck Public Works, the program will begin April 14, during which crews will start on the east side of town and gradually move through various neighborhoods across the borough.
Some sweeping may occur at select locations prior to the start of the program, according to Public Works.

All residents and merchants are encouraged to sweep any sand or dirt from their sidewalks into the gutter lines before crews arrive.
Public Works asks residents to avoid sweeping sand into piles, as sweepers are unable to collect them efficiently.

Litter, debris and leaves should be collected separately and disposed of through regular trash or recycling, according to Public Works.
To ensure complete and efficient street cleaning, residents are asked to move vehicles off the street during sweeping operations, according to Public Works.
Although the use of straight salt during winter plowing has reduced the amount of sand left behind, the department said employees are still required to sweep all borough streets and clean the catch basins.
