POLICE: Naugatuck Man Accused of Punching Pregnant Woman

Police say an argument led to a physical altercation between boyfriend and girlfriend at a Naugatuck home.

Naugatuck Police say they responded to a domestic disturbance report between a boyfriend and girlfriend at the boyfriend’s home on Mulberry Street Sunday, Aug. 16 at around 3 p.m.

During the couple’s argument, the boyfriend allegedly punched his girlfriend, police say.

When officers arrived at the scene, they tried to make contact with the boyfriend, who was standing outside at the time, but he allegedly fled from the officers into the home, police say.

Police say the accused complied with the officers after a short period of time and was taken into custody.

Matthew Lantieri, 23, of Mulberry Street, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault on a pregnant person, disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief and interfering with an officer, police say.

He was held on a $10,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 17, police say.
