Barnes & Noble Closing Location In Waterbury After Nearly 30 Years In Business
The store is having a 50-percent off sale on all books before it closes its doors for good.
WATERBURY, CT — Barnes & Noble is closing its location in Waterbury after nearly 30 years in business, the store announced Friday.
The bookstore, located at the Brass Mill Commons shopping center at 235 Union St. in Waterbury, will close its doors on Jan. 18.
“It is with great sadness that we confirm the closure of this Barnes & Noble bookstore as our lease has ended,” officials wrote in a letter to customers. “Our last day will be January 18, 2026. We have loved being a part of this neighborhood, and it has been our honor and privilege to be your bookseller for the last 28 years.”

The letter encourages customers to shop at its nearby store in Cheshire, which recently opened at The Shops at Stone Bridge Development. The new Barnes & Noble is located at 1991 Highland Avenue, Suite C310 in Cheshire.
“Thank you for your continued patronage, which is greatly appreciated by all the booksellers here at Barnes & Noble,” reads the letter signed by Your B&N Waterbury Team.

The store also announced that it is having a 50-percent off sale on all books.
