Police: Naugatuck Man Arrested After Fleeing Scene of Crash

Two people were transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.

A 28-year-old Naugatuck man was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly fled the scene of an accident that sent two people to the hospital.

The accident took place at about 7:20 p.m. in front of Al's Hot Dogs on South Main Street. Police said one of the vehicles involved in the accident struck another car as the driverΒ attempted to flee.

Police located the vehicle, a 2000 Acura Integra, on High Street, and then traced its registration to the residence at 90 Oak St., where police arrested Jonathan Batista.

He was charged with twoΒ counts of evading responsibility, unsafe backing and following too closely. Batista was held on bond, and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 20.Β Β Β 

Police said the victims of the accidents were not seriously injured; however, the occupants of the vehicle involved in the second collision on South Main Street and Hotchkiss Street were transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
