Police Issue Snow Cleanup Reminder For Naugatuck Residents

According to police, Naugatuck property owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks safe and passable after snowfall.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The Naugatuck Police Department issued a snow cleanup reminder this week for residents.

In a Facebook post Monday night, police said Naugatuck property owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks safe and passable after snowfall.

Police also provided the following reminders for Naugatuck residents:

  • Clear sidewalks within 10 hours after snowfall ends (or by noon if it snows overnight).
  • Remove ice or apply sand/salt if surfaces are slippery.
  • Do NOT shovel or plow snow into the street.

According to police, all snow and ice must be cleared from vehicles parked or traveling on roadways.

Vehicles that are not properly cleared and become immovable may be towed to allow for safe snow removal and emergency access, police said.

Police also noted borough crews may clear uncleared sidewalks and bill the property owner. Fines may apply for violations.
