Valuable Coin Stolen From American Legion Event In Naugatuck: Police

The man, who was present about 10 minutes, bought a silver coin but also stole a gold one during the transaction, police said.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Police are seeking the public’s help to find a man they believe stole a valuable coin at an event Saturday in Naugatuck.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Cedar Street, where a coin show was being held, according to police.

The man, who was present about 10 minutes, bought a silver coin but also stole a gold one during the transaction, police said. The stolen coin is a Professional Golfers’ Association of America 1.5-ounce coin and is worth about $3,900, according to police.
