A bear sighting was reported to New Canaan Animal Control this past week, but officials couldn't substantiate the claim.
Officer Mary Ann Kleinschmitt said the bear was spotted at 120 Carter Street Thursday, ut the bear was nowhere to be found when she took a trip out to the address.
"We notified the citizens in the area," Kleinschmitt said. "There were not other sightings reported. We also let the mounted troop know out of concern for the horses, but there are no other leads at this time."
