New Canaan's Baldanza Market & Cafe Set to Open Early July

If you've been waiting for the Baldanza Market and Cafe to open in New Canaan, owner and Pound Ridge resident Sandy Baldanza said the finish line is in sight.

Baldanza was hopeful he'd be able to open the doors to his self-titled market and cafe between July 1 and 15. Baldanza was working on the site Wednesday, which is still under construction.

The food produced will be roughly 95-percent organic, Baldanza said.

"We wanted to eliminate food sources treated with GMOs and aren't using any non-natural products," he said. "Our beef is all grass-fed and our produce is all organic."

Baldanza said he personally visited all the farms providing the meat and produce for the market to make sure their treatments of the products were up to his standards.

"We're also more into real food here," he said. "People go into a restaurant and can say, 'Ok, this is healthy, but do I even want to eat this?' We make sure the food were serving up is healthy and tastes great."
