Richard Gere Bought Paul Simon's Former New Canaan Home: Report
Simon and wife Edie Brickell sold the home this summer for $10.8 million.
NEW CANAAN, CT — It took three years and multiple price reductions, but singer-songwriters Paul Simon and Edie Brickell finally sold their New Canaan home this summer, and it turns out the buyer is another celebrity.
Actor and activist Richard Gere is the buyer of the nearly 32-acre estate, paying $10.8 million, reported Mansion Global and Dirt.
Simon and Brickell owned the home for 20 years, having paid $16.5 million for it in 2002. The couple had been trying to sell it since 2019, originally asking $13.9 million, but reducing it multiple times to finally get it sold.

Gere may have gotten a bit of a bargain on the purchase, but he is no stranger to large real estate deals.
The Golden Globe-winning actor reportedly sold a 50-acre estate in nearby Pound Ridge, New York, earlier this year for more than $20 million. He reportedly also bought a 26-acre estate in North Salem this year for $10 million, according to Dirt.
And in 2016, he sold an estate in the Hamptons to former "Today Show" host, Matt Lauer, for more than $30 million.
