Several Phones, Wallets Stolen During New Canaan 4th of July Pool Party

A number of partygoers attending a gathering at a Smith Ridge Road residence for the Fourth of July reported to New Canaan police the following day that they had personal effects stolen during a dip in the pool.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, the first victim arrived at the station on Friday, July 5, at approximately 10:47 a.m. The 17-year-old male reported his wallet and iPhone had been stolen off a table while he'd been swimming.

At around 1 p.m., Ogrinc said a 19-year-old male reported his iPhone had been taken in the same scenario at the same location. At 2:19 p.m., a 19-year-old male and 20-year-old male reported they'd fallen victim at the same residence during the same party and had an HTC cellphone and wallet stolen.

The 20-year-old victim was a resident of the location, but Ogrinc said the party had grown to a size that he could not keep track of all the guests coming and going.

An investigation is ongoing.
