1 Dead After Head-On Crash With Fire Department Vehicle: Police

Fire personnel involved in the crash rendered aid to the other driver, administering Narcan, New Haven police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A driver died after a Saturday night crash with a New Haven Fire Department vehicle, according to police.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., when a fire department SUV was traveling west on Hemingway Street, approaching Russell Street, and an eastbound Honda Accord, also on Hemingway Street, swerved over the double line, causing a head-on collision, police said.

Fire personnel involved in the crash rendered aid to the Honda’s driver, administering Narcan for what appeared to be a medical emergency, according to police. Everyone involved in the crash was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital and the driver of the Honda died of his injuries, police said.
