1 Killed After Crash, Shooting In New Haven Saturday: Police

Officials have launched a homicide investigation after a crash and shooting Saturday afternoon.

NEW HAVEN, CT — One person died Saturday after a car crash and shooting in New Haven, and police said they are investigating the death as a homicide.

In a social media update, police said the shooting victim was involved in a crash near the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Russell Street. Officers were on-scene with the victim as of 2:43 p.m.

Less than an hour later, police said they were beginning a homicide investigation.

Authorities did not release further details as of Saturday at 4 p.m., including where the person may have been shot. Their identity has not been released.

Police planned to hold a press conference at 5:15 p.m. Saturday to update local news media.
