Employees told Officer Trevor Brown that the two men, described as white, entered the store, wearing masks with one claiming to have a gun and "threatening to shoot the clerk in the leg if he didn’t hand over money and medication," police said. "As they were moving toward the rear of the store, the clerks fought back against the suspects, managing to restrain one," later identified as 57-year-old Anthony Freeza. The other masked man fled on foot toward Dwight Street, police said, describing him as a white male in his 50s, wearing a blue sweatshirt.
Freeza was treated "for minor injuries, sustained during the fight" at the nearby Saint Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital, police said. He was charged with robbery, assault and criminal mischief.
