Battle Of The Havens: NHPD Vs. EHPD Hockey Game Saturday Benefits St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital
New Haven-East Haven cops face off for St. Jude's, where no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.
NEW HAVEN-EAST HAVEN, CT —The ice is heating up once again as two proud departments renew one of the shoreline’s most exciting rivalries.
The Battle of the Havens returns when the puck drops Saturday, Dec. 27, at 5:30 p.m. at East Haven's Veteran's Memorial Ice Rink. The East Haven Police Department takes on the New Haven Police Department in a fast-paced charity hockey showdown benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Following the success of last year’s event, which brought together hundreds of community
members and raised critical funds for St. Jude's, this year’s game aims to continue building a
powerful tradition of service, competition, and giving back, the town of East Haven noted in a news release.

"This event perfectly represents what community policing is all about," East Haven Mayor
Joseph A. Carfora said. "Two departments, one cause, and an entire community coming together to
support children and families who need it most. It’s a night of fun, pride, and purpose, and we
invite everyone to come be part of it."
Fans can expect high-energy action, big hits, and plenty of friendly bragging rights on the line, all while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children battling serious illness, the statement from the town of East Haven reads.
New Haven Chief of Police Karl Jacobson expects a fun and lively game, and above all, the monies raised from the benefit game help St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital help kids.
“This is going to be a great game, and we’re looking forward to it. Thanks to the East Haven PD for participating," Jacobson said. The best part is, regardless of the score, the kids helped by St. Jude’s win, and that’s what’s important.”
The Patsy DiLungo Veteran's Memorial Ice Rink is located at 71 Hudson St., in East Haven.
