2 Motorcycles Involved In New Haven Crash, 1 Man Killed: State Police
An ID of the deceased has been released by state police.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Noel E. Gonzalez, 49, of Waterbury was killed in a motorcycle crash late Friday, according to state police.
At 11:09 p.m. Friday, New Haven police notified state police of a fatal motorcycle collision which occurred on Route 34 Westbound, east of South Orange Street, state police said.
Police reported the collision involved two motorcyclists and that one of the involved
operators had sustained fatal injuries, state police said.

"Preliminary investigation indicated that Vehicle #1 and Vehicle #2 (Gonzalez) were traveling westbound on Route 34, east of the South Orange Street Intersection in New Haven. As Vehicle #1 and (Gonzalez) approached the intersection, (Gonzalez's motorcycle) struck the rear of Vehicle #1. This impact caused both operators to separate from their motorcycles," state police said.
Both motorcyclists slid across the pavement and struck a raised traffic island in the roadway, state police said.

Both motorcyclists were transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment. One motorcyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while Gonzalez sustained serious injuries, and he later died, state police said.
Two traffic control signs were damaged as a result of the collision. The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (C.A.R.S.) responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
