Cops were looking to serve a warrant and found Edward Casigne, 41, who also has a Meriden address, at a North Haven steakhouse: Prosecutor.

NEW HAVEN, CT — After a two-day trial, a New Haven Superior Court jury found a New Haven man guilty of myriad gun charges, according to New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr.

Edward Casigne, who also has a Meriden address, was found guilty of Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Doyle said.

Doyle said that evidence at trial showed that a task force of New Haven police and other officers were attempting to locate the Casigne to serve a warrant on a November day in 2023 and found him at the Longhorn Steakhouse on Universal Drive in North Haven. Police waited for him to exit the restaurant and enter the parking lot before making the arrest, Doyle said.

Casigne "was able to get into the driver’s seat of a nearby car before he was apprehended, and the firearm at issue was found tucked in between the driver’s seat and center console of the vehicle," Doyle said evidence at trail showed.

The defendant’s DNA was located on the firearm, the prosecutor added.
