2 From New Haven, With Active Warrants, Charged In U-Haul Theft: PD
Cops say the man and woman got out of a stolen U-Haul and ran, but were later found hiding in the basement of a nearby house and arrested.
NEW HAVEN, CT —Early Wednesday night, officers with the New Haven police Criminal Intelligence Unit and Shooting Task Force saw a stolen U-Haul truck in the area of Davis and Fairfield streets. Cops then saw, according to spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart, a man get out of the driver seat and a woman get out of the passenger seat.
When the two saw cops, they took off, Bruckhart said.
Both eventually found in the basement of a nearby house with "unlocked doors," police said. The man "attempted to flee a second time," and as officers were trying to apprehend him, one of them "suffered a laceration to his hand" and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital as a precaution, Bruckhart said.
