2 Non-Fatal Shootings In 24 Hours Reported In New Haven: Police

Police said they are investigating two non-fatal shootings reported in New Haven within less than 24 hours of each other.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating two non-fatal shootings reported in New Haven within less than 24 hours of each other, according to the department.

In a news release posted to X, formerly Twitter, police said they were called to Yale-New Haven Hospital on York Street after receiving a report of a walk-in shooting victim Monday around 8:30 p.m.

According to police, the 19-year-old Meriden man sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to one of his legs and arrived at the hospital by private vehicle.

The man told officers he was shot on Blatchley Avenue, however they were unable to locate a crime scene, police said.

On Tuesday, officers were called to the Saint Raphael's campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital on Chapel Street around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a walk-in gunshot victim.

According to police, the 37-year-old Milford man sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle, which was determined to be non-life threatening.

Responding officers found a blood trail nearby that led to a car and later applied for a search warrant to seize and process the vehicle, police said.

In both cases, detectives interviewed the victims and those involved, according to police.
