3 New Haven Men Face Multiple Gun, Drug Trafficking Charges: NHPD

NEW HAVEN, CT — New Haven police officers and detectives assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Unit and Shooting Task Force along with patrol officers developed information that men were actively selling narcotics from 238 Davenport Ave., police posted to "X."

Police noted that the address was previously targeted by officers in January, which resulted in arrests for narcotic sales, with crack cocaine, fentanyl, and a firearm seized.

Monday afternoon, police approached the address and three men were detained: Christian Ayala-Rivera, 28, Jorge Asencio-Ortiz, 26, and William Borrero, 34.

A search yielded a Glock 17 9mm pistol with a laser attachment and high capacity magazine, ammunition, cash, and 14 grams of cocaine and heroin, police said.

Borrero of New Haven was charged with possession of a pistol without a permit, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and interfering with the police. He was held on a $250,000 bond.

Asencio-Ortiz, of New Haven, was charged with possession of a pistol without a permit, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. He was held on a $250,000 bond.

Ayala-Rivera was charged with criminal possession with a firearm, possession of a pistol without a permit, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to self and interfering with the police. He was also found to have four outstanding arrest warrants and is being held on bonds totaling $425,000
