Albertus Magnus College Receives Grant For Certified Nursing Assistant Program
Through the Good Jobs Challenge, the program is free for participants, and enrollment is underway with courses starting Jan. 12, 2026.
NEW HAVEN, CT — A grant from the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and the state Office of Workforce Strategy allows Albertus Magnus College to "jumpstart" a Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program.
The program will "provide a gateway to careers in healthcare to meet the needs of the region," the college noted in a news release.
Through the Good Jobs Challenge, this program is being offered free of charge to its participants. Albertus will begin enrollment underway this month, with courses starting Jan. 12, 2026.

Applicants must be 18-years-old and commit to full-time job placement upon certification. Click here for more information and to apply.
Building a career of care, Albertus’ CNA Training program is an intensive eight-week, 110-hour course designed to fit the busy life of adult learners — all while preparing them to deliver compassionate and competent care to individuals as part of meaningful work in healthcare. They’ll gain 70 hours of classroom instruction plus 40 hours of supervised clinical practice — meeting Connecticut’s state requirements in preparation for the state certification exam.

As a student at Albertus, participants will find personal support from experienced faculty who believe in student success.
Founded by the Dominican Sisters of Peace in 1925, and celebrating its Centennial Year, Albertus is guided by the Four Dominican Pillars of Study, Prayer, Community, and Service. With its campus uniquely situated at the intersection of the City of New Haven and the Town of Hamden, Albertus seeks to be a source of inclusive skill set and community building through fulfilling its educational
mission. The College will use the funds to start up this important program which will only enhance its LPN to BSN and BSN degree offerings in its hands-on, state-of-the-art campus facility.

Rivera-Hainaj. “By partnering with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and leveraging the strategic goals of the State of CT Office of Workforce Strategy, we are creating a vital pathway to family-sustaining careers, ensuring our graduates are prepared to contribute immediately to regional economic growth and the well-being of Greater New Haven."
