Arrest Made In New Haven Bank Robbery: Police
Perry Charnas, 39, also faces an assault charge in connection with the recent Wells Fargo robbery, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Haven Police Department made an arrest Friday in connection with a bank robbery earlier this month.
The robbery, reported shortly after 9 a.m. April 8 at Wells Fargo, 956 Chapel St., was carried out by a man dressed in all-black clothing, a mask and gloves, witnesses told police.
Bank employees said a female customer had just finished a transaction with a teller when the robber grabbed the customer, placed her in a headlock and pushed her to the counter.

"The man then produced a sharp object, held it to the woman's neck, and demanded money from the teller," New Haven Police Department Spokesperson Christian Bruckhart said. "Thankfully the victim was not harmed."
As for the robber, he fled the bank on foot.

Detectives worked to develop a suspect and once they accomplished that, they obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Perry Charnas, 39, was taken into custody Friday without further incident on suspicion of robbery and assault.
He was being held on $350,000 bond.
