Governor Ned Lamont, who has been a Tweed New Haven Airport and Avelo Airlines supporter, and who was on hand in November when Avelo launched its San Juan, Puerto Rico route, said the airport is a "key partner in our overall efforts to attract business and job growth in the New Haven region."

"More flights and travel options help ensure that the region has the reliable transportation opportunities needed for our economic growth," Lamont said.

Avelo now provides 21 nonstop destinations from Tweed spanning seven states —Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland —and Puerto Rico.
