Avelo Takes Off For NOLA: Fly From Tweed To 'Paris Of The South'

One-way fares between Tweed-New Haven Airport and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport start at $72, Avelo Airlines announced.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Avelo Airlines launched its non-stop flights to New Orleans Thursday.

The route between Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and Tweed-New Haven Airport has one -way fares starting at $72.

"New Haven and New Orleans are both known for their vibrant arts scenes, incredible food, institutions of learning, and rich histories," New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said. "With the launch of today’s flight, New Haven residents and New Orleans residents now have the opportunity to travel from one cultural capital to another."

Avelo noted in a news release that it is, "The first and only airline offering nonstop service between New Haven and New Orleans."

Avelo will operate this route twice-weekly on Thursdays and Sundays. Travelers can book at AveloAir.com.

"With this new nonstop service to New Orleans, Avelo continues to expand its commitment to our community and region, giving travelers more options to explore unique destinations directly from a hometown airport," Tweed New Haven Airport Authority Chairman Robert Reed said.
