NEW HAVEN, CT — Wednesday at around 1 p.m., first responders were called to the 200 block of St. John Street for the report of a bicyclist crashing into a parked unoccupied vehicle, police said.
When they got there, ambulance personnel and officers found a 16-year-old suffering from a "large cut" as a result of the crash. The teen was taken to Yale New Haven hospital for treatment.
But during the investigation, police said, the teen was identified as having been arrested in May for carrying in an illegal handgun. Officers alerted hospital security, who "conducted a safety check" and found the boy in possession of a "ghost gun with no serial number, extended magazine and laser attachment," police said.
