Update: Bicyclist, 24, Killed In Downtown Crash With Garbage Truck: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 24-year-old man on a bicycle died following an overnight crash involving a garbage truck, police said.
The police, who initially did not name the man pending the notification to his family, but Thursday night, identified him as Nicolas Baltazar-Concepcion, of New Haven.
At 2 a.m., police went to the intersection of Church Street and North Frontage Road and found the truck and the bicyclist, who was rushed a few blocks away to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

The operator of the refuse truck remained on scene, per authorities.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that the bicyclist entered the roadway from a sidewalk, however the Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is continuing the investigation," New Haven police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart said.

The man has been identified but, Bruckhart said, his name is not being released pending the notification to his family.
