Bridging Careers, Generations: Students, Professional Of Color Connect

Southern Connecticut State hosts 4th annual event Wednesday to foster network of students, professionals from underrepresented backgrounds.

NEW HAVEN, CT —Southern Connecticut State University hosts the fourth annual Connecting Students and Professionals of Color event Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Called a "dynamic and community-focused initiative," it's designed to foster a network of students and professionals from underrepresented backgrounds. The series is dedicated to helping students successfully navigate educational and career pathways among STEM and Bioscience companies by building mentorship, networking opportunities, and industry insights.

Since 2021, SCSU’s Innovation Hub has helped over 200 students secure jobs and internships in STEM fields, with 40% percent of these students identifying as people of color.

Held in the Adanti Student Center Ballroom, 501 Crescent St., New Haven, even moderators are Legairre Radden, Research Scientist III, Boehringer Ingelheim and Dr. Chaka Felder-McEntire, Executive Director, Higher Heights.

The panelists are Dr. Angelique Khalifa, Principal Scientist, Boehringer Ingelheim Miraj Jara, Computer Science Student, SCSU Colette Ruden, Senior Engineer, Tech and Innovation, Office of the CTO, and CCAT Sarai Lara-Boykin, Associate Scientist, Pfizer.

Program partners are Boehringer Ingelheim Global Black Community at Pfizer Sponsored by SCSU DEI, the City of New Haven, the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation, and the SCSU Innovation Hub.
