CitySeed Celebrates Fall Favorite at Weekend Markets

"Squash Everything" takes place at New Haven farmers' markets November 5 and 6.

From CitySeed:

NEW HAVEN, CT – One of the only farmers’ markets operating year-round in Connecticut, CitySeed honors the many beautiful and delicious varieties of Winter Squash available this season at Squash Everything at its Weekend Farmers’ Markets – Wooster Square on Saturday, November 5th and Edgewood Park on Sunday, November 6th.

Squash Everything pays tribute to CT’s versatile seasonal standard with opportunities for kids and adults to learn about different winter squash varieties with tastings, recipes and special tips. Seasonal offerings for sale include squash-inspired salads and sweets from special guest Small Kitchen Big Taste; hot mulled cider; pumpkin pie from SoNo Baking Company; and squash-centric recipes and pairings from our very own farmers and vendors highlighting in-season produce including winter squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips, garlic, carrots, greens, lettuce, kale and chard.

Other market happenings for young and older include live music by singer/songwriter Frank Critelli, and a fun, squash-themed activity/take-home gift for kids. At Wooster Square, squash reigns supreme at The Soup Girl’s cart with hot soup for tasting and at The Farm Belly food truck; and Whole G Bakery features their pumpkin muffins, voted best homemade muffins by the Shoreline Times. At Edgewood Park, Cyril the Sorcerer weaves his magic at the market for kids of all ages.

Squash Everything is the final festival in a series CitySeed hosted at its weekend markets honoring seasonal favorites, following Salad Slam, Strawberry Fest and Apple Fest earlier this season. Festivals incorporate themed cooking demos or tastings; special food items for sale; food truck menus and farmer pairings and specials; live performances by local musicians; and family-friendly activities.
