Carol Sirot Foundation Brings Joy to FHCHC’s Welcome Baby Initiative

New Haven, CT — 12/18/2025— Fair Haven Community Health Care (FHCHC) is proud to announce a generous contribution from the Carol Sirot Foundation in support of its Welcome Baby initiative, a program designed to support new mothers and their infants. Rooted in FHCHC’s commitment to whole-person care, the initiative is part of Welcome Baby USA, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families throughout pregnancy and a child’s first year of life. Welcome Baby USA partners with trusted community-based organizations to provide evidence-informed education, essential supplies, and connections to resources that promote healthy beginnings, particularly in communities facing economic and social barriers.
Thanks to the Carol Sirot Foundation’s gift, FHCHC will purchase and distribute 75 Welcome Baby Boxes to new mothers receiving care through its prenatal and women’s health programs. Each box contains up to two months’ worth of essential infant supplies, including diapers, wipes, baby clothing, bottles, blankets, an infant carrier, and other necessities—items that families rely on but that can be financially out of reach for many.
“I learned to give from my mother, who shared what little she had with others,” said Carol Sirot.“Seeing the joy and relief this program brings to new mothers makes this work incredibly rewarding.”
Through the Welcome Baby initiative, FHCHC addresses social, emotional and practical challenges that can impact family health and well-being. By meeting families where they are, FHCHC aims to strengthen maternal health and promote healthy starts for newborns.
“For the families we serve, these boxes are more than supplies said Maggie Moffett, Chief Advancement Officer. “They allow mothers and families to focus on bonding and caring for their babies and serve as a powerful reminder that they are supported and not alone.
FHCHC extends its sincere gratitude to the Carol Sirot Foundation for its investment in maternal and infant health, and looks forward to sharing the positive outcomes and stories that will emerge from this program as it reaches more families across our communities.
