Climate & Sustainability Dept, Partners Begin Energy Efficient Program
The new initiative was created to provide New Haven residents with low-cost or no-cost energy-saving home improvements.

NEW HAVEN, CT —The city has launched the Energy Efficient Elm City Program, a new initiative that will provide New Haven residents with low-cost or no-cost energy-saving home improvements.
Mayor Justin Elicker, New Haven Climate and Sustainability Director Steven Winter and New England Smart Energy Group CEO Stephanie Weiner announced the the $1.5 million American Rescue Plan-funded program.
The program aims to provide over 1,250 residents with expert guidance, home energy assessments, weatherization and insulation installations, low- or no-cost high-efficiency heating and cooling heat pump systems, electrical panel upgrades, and other related improvements. All are designed to help families save money, improve home comfort, and reduce energy use and carbon emissions. All residents, including homeowners and renters with landlords’ permissions, living in one- to four-unit buildings who earn 80 percent or less than the area median income are eligible to participate in the program.
