Cops Investigate After Man, 21, Hurt In Daytime Newhallville Shooting

A 21-year-old New Haven man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Monday afternoon around 4:30, Shotspotter alerted to gunfire near West Hazel Street and Dixwell Avenue, police said.

A short time later, spokesperson officer Christian Bruckhart said, it was reported by dispatch that a person had been shot on Starr Street.

Cops found a "crime scene with ballistic evidence" on Star Street between Shelton Avenue and Newhall Street, he said. A 21-year-old New Haven man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries, police said.
