NEW HAVEN, CT — Monday afternoon around 4:30, Shotspotter alerted to gunfire near West Hazel Street and Dixwell Avenue, police said. A short time later, spokesperson officer Christian Bruckhart said, it was reported by dispatch that a person had been shot on Starr Street. Cops found a "crime scene with ballistic evidence" on Star Street between Shelton Avenue and Newhall Street, he said. A 21-year-old New Haven man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries, police said. Police ask if anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or may have had information valuable to investigators, call detectives at 203–9 46–6304 or through the department's anonymous tip line at 866–888-TIPS (8477).
