Fondue But Not Forgotten: 70s Food Fad An 'Event' At The Melting Pot
Set to open May 16, The Melting Pot, founded in FL in 1975, is a fondue dining event, owners say. Each table has an induction cooktop.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The 90-restaurant strong Melting Pot has been "dazzling food enthusiasts for over 50 years with its interactive fondue dining experience," owners say.
Now, Melting Pot New Haven is set to "add to the city’s diverse and thriving culinary landscape," a grand opening announcemnt reads.
The new restaurant is located at 20 George St., within the newly constructed Anthem at Square 10 mixed-use building, situated on the former site of the New Haven Coliseum. The restaurant’s 5,600-square-foot corner location "accentuates the building’s modern design aesthetic and progressive ethos," owners noted.

The eatery is owned by Daina and Jonathan Reeve, who describe themselves as "corporate financiers gone rogue," and their son Josh, a seasoned hospitality professional and Johnson & Wales University alumnus. They're hoping the fondue spot will become a "standout destination for those looking to spice up their food game and enjoy a more social dining experience."
"What’s special about Melting Pot is that it’s not just about going out to eat. It’s an event," the Reeve family noted in a news release. "You can really participate in an intimate moment together, enjoy the various courses, and engage with the people you’re with. It allows you to break away from the day-to-day and have something different and special."

This is The Melting Pot describse the experience:
The dining tables and bar counter are designed with induction cooktops, which heat the cookware in either a fondue pot or a grill pan, directly through magnetic induction rather than a traditional heating element, providing a safe and fun fondue party environment. Fondue options include a variety of melted cheese flavors including Alpine with Gruyère, raclette, fontina, white wine, garlic, and nutmeg to the Fiesta style with aged cheddar, Emmenthaler, Sam Adams Boston Lager®, housemade salsa, and jalapeño. All served with breads and fresh produce for dipping and traditional fondue cooking styles like Court Bouillon (broth), traditional oil, and Coq Au Vin (burgundy wine) for cooking proteins (meat, chicken, and shrimp) and vegetables.
A global flavor palate of dipping sauces accompanies the entrée fondues. In addition to a variety of salads such as Caesar and strawberry pecan, an extended entrée menu includes duck breast, Memphis dry rub pork, petite filet, Atlantic salmon, wild mushroom ravioli, and more.
The sweet side of the Melting Pot experience is its famous, silky, chocolatey, fabulous fondues, from the pure milk, dark, or white chocolate fondue to the decadent Flaming Turtle - a milk chocolate, caramel flambé, candied pecan palooza, all served with fresh fruit and sweet treats for dipping. Both savory and sweet offerings can be enjoyed à la carte or within set dining packages. Gluten-free and vegetarian dishes are available.
Melting Pot New Haven’s beverage menu includes creative cocktails, local craft beer, and a carefully curated wine list.
The bar seats 15 people, and the dining area can accommodate up to 230 guests, with an additional 20 people in the private party room and 40 on the patio.
After a ribbon-cutting and a private event, Saturday, The Melting Pot opens to the public; Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday, from noon to 10 p.m.
