NEW HAVEN, CT — A food delivery driver from Hamden was shot while making a delivery in New Haven, police said. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

At 3:58 p.m. Sunday, police responded to 911 calls reporting a person down in the road in the area of Shepard and Goodrich streets, police said.

Raviteja Koyyada, 26, of Hamden, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound, police said.

"Detectives determined that Koyyada was a delivery driver for a Chinese food restaurant and was shot while making a delivery to a house on Shepard Street," police said. "His car was also stolen but located a short time later parked and unoccupied nearby."
